When served as an accompaniment, this is a wonderful surprise for guests. And it’s a healthy alternative to butter at the meal table. Did you know that the British are now eating as much garlic as the French? This can only be good, as garlic is Mother Nature’s medicine cabinet, packed with vitamins C and B6, as well as manganese, selenium and other antioxidants, contributing to the reduction of blood pressure, reduced cholesterol and cardiovascular diseases.
So eat your garlic at least twice a week!
I roast my garlic when the oven is already on for other dishes – that way no energy is wasted.
|2 bulbs||Garlic, whole|
|1 tbsp||Rapeseed oil|
Preheat the oven to 180˚C. Place the garlic bulbs on a baking tray and drizzle with a little olive oil. Bake in the oven for 35-45 minutes depending on the size of the bulbs, until the bulbs are soft to the touch. Remove from the oven and allow to cool. Cut the bulbs in half widthways and serve with crusty bread.
