Maison Blanc - Rekindling a Dream
In December 2008, Raymond Blanc, who founded Maison Blanc in 1981 returned to the fold to spearhead a major re-launch of the brand.
In 2007, KFG, a group of restaurant investors, acquired Maison Blanc and decided to return to the original concept and values created by Raymond Blanc. They began the process of taking Maison Blanc into the future and key to this was to bring Raymond back on board – after all there is no magic without the magician!
The plan is simple - to go back to basics – excellence in all of its facets and artisanal craft.
Every Maison Blanc will be refurbished with the traditional warmth of wood and within, the bread and patisserie epitomising the best of France. Maison Blanc will now offer 15 varieties of the best French bread including the iconic baguette “tradition”.
Now, the flakiest and buttery croissants will be baked in the shops and many new sinful French patisseries will be added to the repertoire.
Every Maison Blanc will offer breakfast, light lunches and afternoon tea, all of this in very comfortable surroundings.
Raymond Blanc commented “We all have a lot to do in 2009 to get the business to where it has the potential to be. We are determined to be the leader in this market and have lots of exciting plans ahead.”
Maison Blanc has acquired many new sites to grow the brand. Recent new openings have been in Hampstead, North London (December 2008), a new store opened in Burford in the Cotswolds (February 2009). Most recently, Maison Blanc Winchester opened in April 2009 and a new store in Henley is now also open.
In addition to store developments, Raymond and the team have recently created a new range of cakes and patisseries for Waitrose and these will be updated seasonally.
