WEDNESDAY 08 DECEMBER 2009 • A ROOM TO SEDUCE
Dressed to kill, my black satin mannequin; jaretelles, corset and all, has now left my office - I only wanted to be with "her" for a while to ensure that she is "the right one". She is now back in the place where she belongs; a bedroom inspired by the powerful paintings of my good friend, Jack Vettriano.
I met Jack many years ago, and immediately fell under the spell of his work (so did a whole nation). The artist’s work is inspired by the later part of La Belle Époque, when men were in charge of everything; dominating, suave, unchallenged masters …
At Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons , each room draws its character, its mood, its expression from personal experiences; from wonderful people I have met, a book I read, exotic travels, a landscape, my culture, my Frenchness ...
To me, making a great room is as important as creating a great dish - the vision supporting Le Manoir was to create a restaurant and a hotel in complete harmony.
The Vettriano suite is moody, sexy, male-driven with splashes of vermilion red and jet black on the wall, antiqued mirrors, a huge 1950s leather sofa and armchairs, cool and as soft as silk. Dark oak lines the floor. In the middle of the room the crystal chandelier will reinvent shadows and light, creating its own magic.
On the vermilion wall, Jack’s paintings will release their life force, seductive powers and beauty onto the courting game…
Definitely a room to seduce.
We look forward very much to welcoming you at Le Manoir.
A bientôt
Raymond
