Cooking with Vladimir at the Daylesford Organic Summer Festival

Hello friends

Life is very busy at the moment and I have lots to tell you. So here is a very short blog about the wonderful man who is the head chef at Daylesford Organic, where I shall be appearing on Saturday 19 May at their Summer Festival at the kind invitation of Lady Bamford.

Vladimir Niza is a fascinating man. He worked for ten years for me as Senior Tutor at the Raymond Blanc Cookery School here at Le Manoir. He has a Masters degree in Nutrition, which is a fantastic asset for any tutor. He used to run the Nutrition course at the Cookery School, where we try to demonstrate the importance of food, landscape and nutrition in preparing the best seasonal produce to nurture your body and your soul - and to enjoy doing so!

Vladimir was - and is - a joy to work with, and we were of course sad to see him leave. And now he is in charge of the fantastic Cookery School at Daylesford Organic Farm. So, when he asked me if I would cook a couple of dishes with him on Saturday - how could I say no?

We are going to cook some delicious, simple dishes - full of seasonal ingredients and bursting with flavour. A light dish with the best English asparagus, a zingy mackerel dish and, to finish, a gorgeous crumble with the sweetest strawberries. Sadly, these berries will not be English, but French - I am sorry! We will have to wait a little longer for English strawberries… if the sun ever shines again!

I hope to see some of you there on Saturday.

Best
