Raymond Blanc
New BBC2 Series:
Raymond Blanc - The Very Hungry Frenchman

13 January 2012

Raymond Blanc is Britain’s most famous French chef, yet he has never cooked professionally in France. In Raymond Blanc: The Very Hungry Frenchman, Raymond finally gets the opportunity to show us the country he loves so much and the French recipes that inspired him.

In each episode Raymond explores the distinctive produce and cuisine of a different region of France, from world famous Burgundy to his less well known but much loved home region of Franche Comté, where his 90 year old mother and father still live, via the gastronomic city of Lyon, the German influenced Alsace and sun-soaked Provence.

In each episode he sources the freshest ingredients from the people that know them best, shows us how to make the dishes, and then, together with his young British protégés, Katie and Kush, Raymond cooks a menu of traditional dishes at a local restaurant for one night only.

This 5 part series, part food, part biography, will be broadcast on BBC TWO at 8pm on Thursday 2 February 2012*. The five episodes will be broadcast* as follows:

02 February 2012 - Franche Comté
09 February 2012 - Burgundy
