On Tuesday 20th July Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons scooped three Annual Awards of Excellence.
Richard Phillips was awarded "The overall winner of Annual Awards of Excellence Young Pastry Chef of the Year". Christine Peace won "Annual award of Excellence in Pastry" and Jean-Marie Messaoud won "Annual award of Excellence for service".
Another great achievement for Benoit Blin's esteemed pastry team and Le Manoir's restaurant team. The Culinary Arts Annual Awards of Excellence were announced during a glittering Gala Dinner at The Dorchester. Heston Blumenthal OBE, Honorary President of the Awards, presented Richard with his award.
Pastry Finalists had 5 hours to produce 8 individual savarins aux oranges; a modern interpretation of a Black Forest Gateau; Nougat de Montelimar and a nougatine stand. To win the award the candidates had to achieve a score of over 70% in tasks set and judged by industry luminaries chaired by John Williams MBE, Executive Chef, The Ritz and Chairman of the Academy of Culinary Arts.

Prizes included silver trophies (donated by Gordon Hogg and Finclass), Meyer Cookware, Victorinox Knives and a scholarship worth £2000 thanks to the generous support of the Savoy Educational Trust. This year's scholarship will be a trip with G.H.Mumm Champagne to Reims and Paris. The three winners will also each spend a day's work experience at The Fat Duck.
The Gala Dinner also celebrated the other 26 talented young chefs, pastry chefs and waiters who successfully achieved the Academy of Culinary Arts' Annual Award of Excellence 2010, in finals held in April.
