MONDAY 19 SEPTEMBER 2011 • DOING A "RAYMOND BLANC"
Doing a "Raymond Blanc"
On Friday I got up early (6am) to film in London with the BBC. The programme is called The Great British Food Revival (series 2).
To you, it may seem weird that a Frenchman is helping with this food revolution, but remember that the French are used to revolutions!
Also remember that 35 years ago I was already looking (hopelessly) for local food and already working with the Soil Association.
The filming went well, as usual with three hours delay! I did a good job promoting my organic plums (more about that later in a more serious blog) ...but I was sooo late for my next appointment… So I ran into the first open space, a very posh office and a gorgeous blonde typing on the desk, perhaps the support staff for the programme - so I asked for a little help from her ...
I promptly threw each of my clothes on the floor right down to underpants, kindly asking the lady to to pick them up and hang them in a suit holder, which she promptly did. All the while I was dressing myself into a new suit for my evening meeting…
Then the beautiful blonde lady introduced herself – she was not the secretary I thought she was but the owner of the house; it was her office! She added graciously that she had been very happy to help me as she thought I was very much in a hurry! There are still kind people around!
Then I was introduced to her giant husband… I thanked God that he did not come in while I was doing my striptease in front of his wife!
Best to you all
