TUESDAY 17 MAY 2011 • DINNER AT GALVIN AT WINDOWS
A delicious dinner at Galvin at Windows - and excellent service!
Hello friends
When my PA Leanda organises two days in London, you might think it is for fun! Well it is not or at least not all of it. After a few early meetings at Le Manoir, I was driven at great speed to catch the 9.54 train to London .Of course, my driver Eddy did not break any laws ,yet he managed to deliver me to the station in a record 11minutes, 23 seconds so I had three seconds to wait for my train! Merci Eddy.
However, I was still late for my first meeting and for the whole day, I played catch up .it is Now 10.20pm on Monday evening: I have just arrived at the Hilton Park lane, a hotel that I know very well. My good friend Michael Shepperd runs it . I was given a wonderful large suite, much bigger than the little Frenchman I am! I admired the view below and felt famished: the 28th floor was the obvious place to go: that is where the Galvin Brothers are plying their craft in their 1 star Michelin restaurant - Galvin at Windows - and you have the whole of London at your feet!

I had asparagus. On garlic leaves they were served, fat and glistening, youthful and tender. Then the Pyrenean Lamb and all the trimmings (kidney, slow cooked shoulder in a cassolette... unctuous, melting and so, so delicious). A well chosen glass of a great little Burgundy: Fixin Crais de Chene, Domaine Louis Bouvier.
Oh, and a gifted sommelier ( Max) who remembered what wine I chose last year and which food I had. I bet this young man will succeed!
That was perfect.
Merci to everyone who looked after me so well.
A demain
